For several of the Four Corners Board of Health Members, this year is their 10th year of involvement in planning and governing the Board of the Local Public Health Department serving Butler, Polk, Seward and York Counties. For a number of these determined individuals, their interest and dedication to public health started long before joining this enthusiastic core of volunteer leaders. At their regular meeting on Tuesday, January 3, 2012 the Board elected this year’s officers including President, Margaret Brink ; Vice President Don Naiberk, Secretary, Darla Winslow, and Treasurer, Mike Smith.
This governing Board consists of 10 representatives of the region including a county commissioner/supervisor from each county served; a physician and dentist from the region as well as a Spirited Citizen to advocate for Public Health from each county. Board of directors current members are: Joseph Erwin, M.D. the board physician representative, Scott Wieting DDS, the dentist representing the district, Bill Kozicek, Butler County Supervisor; Darrell Miller, Seward County Commissioner, Pat Breadenkamp, York County Commissioner, and Mike Smith, Polk County Commissioner. Margaret Brink York; Don Naiberk, Butler; Darla Winslow Polk, and Roger Reamer , Seward, NE make up the ‘Spirited Citizens’ who not only represent their County of Residence but the public health of citizens in all four counties served.
Within their role as a governing Board, this group is responsible for the oversight of the Four Corners Health Department and assuring:
- Partnership Development
- Policy Development
- Continuous Quality Improvement
- Legal Authority
- Resource Stewardship
