Freedom From Smoking Course April - May 2018

Freedom From Smoking is one of the most effective quite smoking programs in the country.  Through eight sessions, you will get a step-by-step support to help you quit using tobacco.

This program from the American Lung Association will equip you to:

  • Know when you are ready to quit
  • Set a quit date and make a plan
  • Learn what method will work for you
  • Start new habits that help you quit
  • Practice healthy ways for managing stress
  • Become tobacco free for good

You also get information about a variety of options available in Nebraska to help you successfully quit using tobacco.

Mental Health First Aid is an 8 hour training course that will give participants the key skills to help someone who is developing a mental health problem or is experiencing a mental health crisis. The training helps laypersons identify, understand, and respond to signs of mental health illnesses and addictions. Take adult or youth training

Trained individuals will be able to: 

♦Recognize the potential risk factors and warning signs fora range of mental health concerns.
♦Obtain information on: depression, anxiety, trauma,psychosis and psychotic disorders, substance usedisorders, and self injury.
♦Use a 5-step action plan to help an individual in crisis;connect with appropriate professional help.
♦Interpret the prevalence of various mental healthdisorders in the U.S. and the need for reduced negativeattitudes in their communities.
♦Apply knowledge of the evidence-based professional,
peer, social and self-help resources available to help someone with a mental health problem treat and manage the problem and achieve recovery., or both!
